sorry!

I haven't updated in forever - work has been crazy and I'm now sick with a terrible cough/sore throat/achy chest. I refuse to take any medicine, though...

Anyway, life is good other than being sick. Things are very exciting at the museum - the new exhibit gets here in 8 days. woohoo!

long distance reading

I did a reading tonight for a friend of a long-distance friend. Thought it might be interesting to anyone reading this site to gain more understanding of Tarot to see how I interpreted the cards in a basic Celtic Cross layout:

Card 1 represents you: this is the Ace of Staffs. This is a really male-energy centered card and it means that you starting a new phase in your career. The aces in the deck always represent new beginnings, and staffs represent your career and/or hobbies. Did you just move or start a new assignment?

Card 2 represents what's blocking you right now: this is the Six of Cups. This card represents a relationship from when you were growing up. Often it means a family relationship (siblings, usually), but it can represent anyone you've been emotionally involved with while growing up. This relationship seems to be blocking your energy at the moment and basically is a thorn in your side.

Card 3 represents your past: The Ten of Pentacles. This card is a card of security and a comfortable home (now in the past).

Card 4 represents your present: The Empress. This card usually represents either your mother, or a pregnant woman in your life. If it represents your mother, then it often means that you're having big issues with her at the moment. (Ocasionally it will represent the mother of your children.) Whoever this woman is, she is having a big impact on your life right now.

Card 5 represents your future: The King of Swords. This card represents a very dominant male - it could be you or someone you know (often it represents a man with dark hair or who is an Air sign). The man in the card is very firm and decided in his actions, he's very stubborn. In the picture on the card he looks like he's ready for anything and prepared to defend himself.

Card 6 represents the crowning energy of your situation: The Star. What an interesting card! This is the card of balance and of reaching a cosmic understanding of your situation - its a card of enlightenment. Its seems like whatever is weighing on your mind is about to be made very clear to you.

Card 7 represents you (and how you see yourself): The Tower. This is the card of cataclysmic life change. Its the card of all the "false" things in your life crumbling away, and starting over.

Card 8 represents how others see you: The Eight of Swords. This card has a picture of a woman standing on a beach blindfolded with swords stuck in the ground all around her - she can't see how to get out. It seems that other people think that you are in a situation that is very difficult for you to get out of and that you're very vulnerable right now.

Card 9 represents your biggest fears or dreams: The Knight of Swords. This card represents very fast changes occuring in your life. I would guess that this is a fear: things changing too fast.

Card 10 represents the final outcome of your current life situation: The Seven of Cups. This is a card of daydreaming about a better life - its a warning: don't get caught up in daydreaming - make things happen! Whatever your current situation, you must be careful not to be too passive.

long weekend

The overnight on Friday really wore me out - my sleep schedule's been crazy all weekend. I think I'm going to go take a hot bath and then curl up in bed. Just a quickie reading tonight:

Energy: The Magician

Wow! Tomorrow should be a productive day! This is the card of having all the tools you need to get done what you want. Its a card of confidence and knowledge and skill... Wonderful!

Oh! I almost forgot - my pastor painted my angel! She sees angels and then paints them and she did mine. Its beautiful! In it, my angel is holding me and we're facing each other. She said that mine is the first angel she's painted that's facing its person - and its like that because I'm so spiritually aware. I have to find a beautiful frame for it and I'm going to hang it above the cradle in our bedroom. I'll post a photo of it soon - its amazing - I'm in love with the painting.
